You use the Animations tab to define details for activity and stockpile animations in the Animation Canvas in the Create Schedule tab.

The Animations tab contains two tabs, the Activities tab and the Stockpiles tab. The Activities tab contains the Activity animations data grid, which you use to control the way activities are displayed in the Animations Canvas. The Stockpiles tab contains a data grid which you use to control the way the stockpiles are displayed in the animation canvas.

To display ancillary activities in the Animation Canvas, you must specify the animation details in the Activity animations data grid.

To display stockpiles in the Animation Canvas, you must specify the offsets for each stockpile in the data grid in the Stockpiles tab. The image, name, colour, and shape of the stockpiles are added to the data grid when they are added as locations in the Setup Schedule > Locations tab.

Columns in the Activity Animations Data Grid on the Activities Tab

You can define settings for the activity animations in the Activity animations data grid, or you can use the spreadsheet view. To access the spreadsheet view, select Spreadsheet > Enable Spreadsheet Views, and then select the Activity Animation spreadsheet. When the Activity Animation spreadsheet is enabled, it replaces the Activity animations data grid in the Animations tab.

Column Description
Active
  • Selected: The activity is displayed according to the settings defined in the columns in the data grid in the Animation Canvas.
  • Cleared: The activity is not displayed for the location in the Animation Canvas.
Activity

The activity for which you want to define the display settings in the Animation Canvas.

You must define display settings for any ancillary activities you want to display in the Animation Canvas. The mining activity is displayed in the Animation Canvas by default. However, you use the Activity animations data grid to change the transparency setting for mining.

Locations

The locations in which the activity occurs, to which the display styles are applied.

To use the same display style for the activity at all locations, you can specify all locations. To use different display styles for the same activity in different locations, you can specify individual locations.

Style

The type of animation for the activity. Options are:

  • Lines: The activity is displayed as a line.
  • Polygon: The activity is displayed as a colour filled polygon.
  • Solid: The activity is displayed as a solid.
String/DTM File

Note: This function supports only GEOVIA Surpac files.

The string or DTM file used to provide the coordinates of the line, polygon, or solid that represents the activity.

Lines and polygons are represented by strings, solids are represented by DTMs.

Note: If the activity occurs at a mining location, and a 3D Canvas representation file is associated with the mining location, you do not need to define a solid in this data grid.

If the location is split by object or polygon for an activity, the string numbers in this activity animation string file must match the polygon or object numbers in the mining method string file for the mining location.

For example, if you have a location that is split by polygon for the drilling activity, and you want the animation to use the drill hole line data, you can create drill hole strings where the string number of the segments, which represent the drill holes, match the string number of the polygon that contains the drill hole segments.

String Range

The string or object range for the activity animation.

Note: This field is necessary only if the location is not split by polygon or object. If the location is split by polygon or object, the string or object number for the animation is taken from the mining location polygon or object number.

Display

The method by which the activity is animated in the Animation Canvas. Options are:

  • Individual: Only the activities performed in the period are displayed in the animation.
  • Add: The activities are added to the animation in the period in which they occur.
  • Remove: All activities are displayed at the start of the animation and each activity is removed in the period in which it is completed.
Colour

The colour that is used to display the activity.

The same colour must be used for each ancillary activity, even if you have created different rows to define different settings for the activity in different locations.

Line Width

The thickness of the line displayed in the Animation Canvas.

Lines are represented as solid cylinders. The line width is the diameter of the cylinder in real world units.

Note: This field is necessary only if the Style is Line.

Transparency

The transparency of the polygon or solid that represents the activity in the Animation Canvas.

By default, the slider is set to the far left, meaning no transparency. The further the slider is set to the right, the more transparent the polygon or solid appears.

Note: The transparency slider appears only if the Style is Polygon or Solid.

Preview

A preview of the colour and transparency in which the activity will appear in the Animation Canvas.

Note: This field displays an image only if the Style is Polygon or Solid.

Direction

The direction in which the activity is displayed when it is partially completed in a period.

Note: This field is applicable only if the Style is Polygon or Solid.

If the Style is Polygon, options are:

  • North: The activity is displayed as added or removed from South to North.
  • East: The activity is displayed as added or removed from West to East.
  • South: The activity is displayed as added or removed from North to South.
  • West: The activity is displayed as added or removed from East to West.

If the Style is Solid, options are:

  • North: The activity is displayed as added or removed from South to North.
  • East: The activity is displayed as added or removed from West to East.
  • South: The activity is displayed as added or removed from North to South.
  • West: The activity is displayed as added or removed from East to West.
  • Up: The activity is displayed as added or removed from the lowest elevation to the highest elevation.
  • Down: The activity is displayed as added or removed from the highest elevation to the lowest elevation.

Columns in the Data Grid on the Stockpile Tab

Column Description
Visible
  • Selected: The stockpile is displayed according to the settings defined in the columns in the data grid in the Animation Canvas.
  • Cleared: The stockpile is not displayed in the Animation Canvas.
Image A preview of the image that is used for a Cone stockpile in the Animation Canvas.
Name The name of the stockpile, as defined in the Setup Schedule > Locations tab.
Colour

The colour used to display the stockpile.

Note: The colour you select in this data grid is also applied to the location in the canvas for the Locations tab, and the colour you select in the Locations tab applies to the Animation Canvas. The tab in which you most recently changed the display colour controls the colour with which the stockpile is displayed in the Animation Canvas.

Shape

The shape with which the stockpile is displayed in the Animation Canvas. Options are:

  • Cone: The stockpile is displayed as a standard cone.
  • Flat cone: The stockpile is displayed as a cone base which closes with a flat surface, as if the tip of the cone has been sliced off.
  • Custom DTM: The stockpile is displayed in the shape defined by the DTM file specified in the Filename column.
Filename

Note: This function supports only GEOVIA Surpac files.

The file name and path for the DTM file you want to use to define the shape of the stockpile in the Animation Canvas.

You can type the file path, or to use the Choose a DTM form to select the DTM, click the Ellipsis button.

Notes:

  • This column is applicable only if the Shape is Custom DTM.
  • The DTM must be created around the 0,0,0 coordinate. The stockpile is moved to the position in the Animation Canvas that is specified by the offset coordinates.
Volume

The volume of the DTM, which is used to display the stockpile in the Animation Canvas.

The volume is used to scale the size of the stockpile in the animation. If the volume is not accurate, the stockpile does display at the correct size.

Note: This column is applicable only if the Shape is Custom DTM.

Y Offset

The offset in the Y direction at which you want the stockpile to display on the Animation Canvas.

Note: Haulage calculations do not use the position of the stockpile that is defined for the Animation Canvas. Haulage routes use the position at the end of the haul route segment defined for the material movement to the stockpile.

X Offset The offset in the X direction at which you want the stockpile to display on the Animation Canvas.

Note: Haulage calculations do not use the position of the stockpile that is defined for the Animation Canvas. Haulage routes use the position at the end of the haul route segment defined for the material movement to the stockpile.

Z Offset

The offset in the Z direction at which you want the stockpile to display on the Animation Canvas.

Note: Haulage calculations do not use the position of the stockpile that is defined for the Animation Canvas. Haulage routes use the position at the end of the haul route segment defined for the material movement to the stockpile.

Rescale Factor

The factor by which the stockpile is rescaled, compared to its true size, for display in the Animation Canvas.

The Rescale Factor is useful if you want to represent the swell factor for the material at the stockpile and you have not used the SWELL_FACTOR production parameter. For example, a Rescale Factor of 2 would double the size of the stockpile in the Animation Canvas.
